Greek Gold, Electrum and AR Staters and fractions.
The photo shows some of the greek coins I have in my collection. Some coin, yet identified or estimated is on-line with a single photo. Many will be added. The lot is composed mostly by AR, EL and some AV greek stater and fractions from Crete, Seleucia, Macedonia, Lydia, Phoenicia, etc. etc.
Every item has been tested, for analysis, with Au and Ag Test Acid and then tested with the Moh test. In Italy there are in every jewelry tests to check if a coin is done in gold, silver or electrum or bronze. We can easily check all types of metals from XIX century.
Greek Electrum Stater (?). Large Picture. Not Identified coin.
Female Bust (?) / Trophy (?) / No inscription.
Metal: gold or electrum.
Tests: Au Test Acid, Ag Test Acid, Moh Test.
The coin has been submitted for estimation to StimaMonete, a service issued by R. Pedoni Numismatica of Rome. He is not sure it's a greek coin, he think, because of the bust, it can be a low grade aureus of Traianus, due to the trophies of the reverse and the fact that it is in gold as the Au Tests confirm. The estimation has been done on 23/01/2010. In my opinion, I'm not sure it's a roman coin, I thought it was greek because of the shape and weight, even if really I'm not sure of what culture it cames from.
